Sponsor: El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board
Biological Sciences
Amount awarded: $74,738

In collaboration with El Paso Water, The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) supports the management and restoration of Rio Bosque Wetlands Park, a 372-acre City of El Paso park in southeast El Paso County near Socorro, Texas. Irrigation canals and drains surround the site, and the park’s western edge runs along the Rio Grande at the U.S.–Mexico international boundary. Restoration work is guided by a Biological Management Plan that documents pre-restoration environmental conditions, defines desired future conditions, sets management goals, and outlines recommended actions to support the long-term recovery of native ecosystems.
