The goal of the present study is to explore the impact of a professional development program that leverages expertise and collaboration between the performing arts and health sciences. Specifically, this work aims to explore movement and somatics as a cross-training intervention to empower a new generation of professional healthcare artists equipped to actively address health disparities and improve quality of patient care for every person, family, and community. A concurrent mixed methods design will be used, including both qualitative and quantitative components. This research project will show how body-based artistic practices and experts can contribute to the professionalization of healthcare providers, possibly offering a model that can be extended to other contexts and modified according to eachcommunity's specific and urgent needs.
