The Aerospace Center proposes a short-range guided Low-Cost Modular Missile System (LCMMS) that will be designed to utilize Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components to reduce costs, Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) to integrate independent systems while being flexible to evolving scenarios, and digital threading to manage system development through product life cycle management and digital twins to reduce the time from design to testing. In addition, The Aerospace Center will investigate digital engineering methodologies, tools, and processes to develop a dynamic decision-making process for a generative framework through continuous improvements while identifying risks and their respective mitigation strategies to design and manufacture the LCMMS. The proposed LCMMS work will expand on the integration the following key areas: (1) Combined Electronics Package (CEP), (2) Signal and Power Transmission, (3) Control Actuation System (CAS), (4) Seeker Innovation, (5) Seeker Manufacture and Test The proposed work enhances the Army's current acquisition strategies by providing a method of continuous mission verification and validation while using COTS solutions. The contribution measures the confidence level of digital twins for born-digital product development. Lastly, the outcomes of this project will provide insights into the design, development, and management of LCMMS using digital engineering principles to respond to rapidly changing scenarios.
