Technical expertise from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) supports statewide seismic monitoring and energy policy through participation in the TexNet Seismic Monitoring Program operated by The University of Texas at Austin’s Bureau of Economic Geology. This work includes service on the program’s Technical Advisory Committee and collaboration with Railroad Commission of Texas staff to review disposal well permit applications in areas with historic seismicity. Advisory input informs regulatory decisions and policy discussions related to induced seismicity and energy production across Texas.
