The administrative supplement will allow us to acquire a new high-resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometer needed for the Biomolecule Analysis Core. The overall goal of the Border Biomedical Research Center (BBRC) is to enable high quality research on health-related problems prevalent on the U.S. - Mexico border through provision of a strong research infrastructure that also provides seminal support for the doctoral program in Biological Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), a program that serves as a major point of entry for Hispanics and other underrepresented minorities into the nation's biomedical research mainstream.
