Texas Alliance for Research on Race & Ethnicity (TARRE) is a collaborative research project between four HSIs- University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), Texas A&M University - San Antonio (TAMUSA) and Texas A&M University- College Station (TAMU) for the study of race and ethnicity. Through physical and virtual labs TARRE brings together faculty and students to engage in research on race and ethnicity. We designed a microaggression project that is the first large scale quantitative study of its kind to be implemented at HSIs with various percent of Hispanic students i.e. UTRGV is 91 percent, UTEP 84 percent, TAMUSA 77 percent, and TAMU is 23 percent Hispanic. Another TARRE research endeavor is the Migration Attitudes Project (MAP) to study attitudes toward migrants and how such perceptions vary by proximity to the Southern border, racial identification, and skin color. All TARRE institutions will select two student fellows who will be mentored through these projects.
