A new certification preparation hub at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) will expand the Texas computer science (CS) teacher pipeline by supporting middle and high school educators pursuing Texas CS 8–12 certification. The project serves ten educators through a structured cohort model that includes the required 150 hours of certification preparation, targeted instructional support, face-to-face training, exam preparation, and professional learning aligned with WeTeach_CS standards. Stipends, instructional materials, certification exam support, and travel assistance are built into the project to promote equitable access and sustained participation. Two instructional team members will deliver and refine training content while strengthening UTEP’s capacity to grow the program over time. By increasing the number of certified CS teachers in the region, the project helps address educational and workforce gaps and strengthens long-term pathways into computing and cybersecurity for Texas secondary students.
