This Research Experience for Undergraduates site is designed to teach students about social science research methods using a Community Based Participatory Research framework. Students will collaborate with community organizations to advance understandings of the local impacts of border enforcement. With the tremendous increase in expenditures, personnel, and infrastructure related to border enforcement, little research approaches the local impacts (both positive in terms of economic influx, as well as negative through abuses of civil and human rights) of these programs. Students will spend ten weeks in summer 2017 - 2020 researching, taking methods seminars and traveling along the U.S. Mexico border.
