The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Social Work and Texas Region 10 Child Protective Services partner to support child welfare workforce preparation through student education and professional training. Alongside stipend support for Master of Social Work students pursuing careers in public child welfare, the collaboration develops training programs that strengthen advanced child welfare practice and leadership. Faculty and staff work with Region 10 to identify emerging workforce needs and create training that responds to challenges faced by child welfare professionals. Curriculum integrated into the MSW program emphasizes casework skills related to foster care services and child welfare practice. These efforts strengthen the competencies and qualifications of child welfare professionals while supporting workforce preparation and retention.
